The musical El aroma de Roma, a comedy set in the time of Nero with multiple gags full of humour and winks to the present day, continues at the Teatro Reina Victoria (Carrera de San Jerónimo, 24) in Madrid until the 30th of July.
In this musical, which forms part of the theatre performances imported from the Mérida Theatre Festival, Cayo is a dancer who offends Nero at one of his famous bacchanals, for which the emperor condemns him to death. Luckily, he manages to escape and plans to hide out in a dance school while pursuing his dream of becoming a great saltator. But he gets the wrong house and ends up at Senator Pison’s gladiatorial school.
The misunderstanding will lead Gaius, unwittingly and almost unknowingly, to become part of a conspiracy against Nero, to bring about the decline of the gladiatorial games, and to revolutionise theatre, music and dance. And to provoke many, many laughs. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
