The President of CEOE International, Marta Blanco, received last Friday in her office the Romanian Ambassador to Spain, George Gabriel Bologan, with whom she analysed how to strengthen business cooperation, among other issues.
At the meeting, which was also attended by the economic advisor of the Embassy, Bogdan Badescu, the increase in trade exchanges in the last year and the need for Spanish and Romanian companies to have a greater knowledge of trade and investment opportunities in both countries were highlighted, reports CEOE.
In this line, the importance of strengthening business cooperation between Spain and Romania, as well as in third markets, was also pointed out. At the same time, possible lines of collaboration between the Romanian Embassy and CEOE were identified.
Likewise, the impact of the war in Ukraine on the country was analysed and the importance of strengthening the economic dimension of the European Union and the competitiveness of its economies against other markets was highlighted, as well as facing common challenges through joint solutions, among other issues.
Finally, the ambassador highlighted the Three Seas Initiative, which seeks to promote cooperation for the development of infrastructures in Europe and whose next summit and business forum will be held in Bucharest in September.
Romania’s economy has grown significantly in 2021 and 2022, with a rapid recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. In these years, the country experienced annual growth of 5.9% and 4.7% respectively.
Bilateral trade relations between Spain and Romania have registered record figures in 2022 with exports of 2,606 million euros and imports of 2,680 million euros, representing a growth of over 25% compared to the previous year.
In terms of investment, the net Spanish stock in Romania reached 560.84 million euros in 2021. By sector, Spanish direct investment was concentrated in construction, energy, automotive and retail trade.
