Instituto Francés unveils Morocco in the 1940s with two books

Contemporary works: Le goût de la terre, by Mina Fadli, and Le Pays des autres, by Leïla Slimani, serve as an excuse for the literary walk through Morocco organised by the Instituto Francés next Thursday 22 June at 7pm.

Mina Fadli will present her novel, Le goût de la terre, an investigation based on real events and a request from her own father, the story of an extraordinary brotherly love in post-war Morocco. Following these revelations, Lilla is on a mission to find him. From a small Berber village on the heights of Mogador to the hustle and bustle of Casablanca, Lilla gradually unearths the unspoken words and family ruptures. Together with Malika Embarek and Vincent Perrot, the author will also examine Morocco in the 1940s in her novel, at the heart of the Berber, Jewish and Arab communities, and plunges the reader into the history of a country in the throes of emancipation and upheaval. Booking is recommended by clicking on this link.
