The auditorium of the Organisation of Ibero-American States (OEI) was the setting last Monday for a tribute paid by the Venezuelan Embassy to the Venezuelan poet Aquiles Nazoa (1920-1976).

In the presence of the Venezuelan Ambassador, Coromoto Godoy, and the Secretary General of the OEI, Mariano Jabonero, a cultural programme took place in which songs based on poems by the poet were sung, such as Polo doliente, Canción de Esperanza, El cochino, Retablillo de navidad or El loco Juan Carabina, which were accompanied by the applause of all those present.

The interpreters of these melodies were the voices of Francisco Pacheco, Iván Pérez Rossi and Luisana Pérez, together with the ukulele of Javier Marín, the mandolin and bandola llanera of Pedro Marín, the percussion of Roberto Castillo and the double bass of José Vicente Muñoz, who came from Venezuela exclusively for this and other events related to the poet Aquiles Nazoa that will take place in the coming days. The auditorium was presided over by a display with one of the poet’s best-known works, his Credo, which can be read at this link.
