The Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training launched last Wednesday the second edition of the Innovation and SDGs in Schools Award.

The aim of this award is to recognize the involvement of schools throughout Ibero-America in raising awareness and disseminating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda in the classroom and in an innovative way.

Schools in Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay and Uruguay are eligible to participate in this award.

The call for entries will be open until October 5 for educational centers in kindergarten, primary, secondary, high school, technical-professional education and education for young people and adults, as well as for those working in special education, with projects that have been carried out between January 1, 2022 and August 31, 2023.

The award will recognize three educational institutions that stand out for their relevance and innovation, as well as for the involvement of the educational community and their sustainability over time, among other criteria. The best initiative will receive an award of 10,000 euros, while the other two finalists will receive a prize of 5,000 euros, which they can use for the continuity or strengthening of their educational project. Applications can be submitted using this form.

The jury commission will be made up of experts in the field and specialists from the organizing institutions, who will select the winners by October 30. The winning projects will be invited to participate in an award event to be held later this year and will have the opportunity to participate in 2024 in the II Ibero-American Seminar on Educational Innovation and Research to be promoted by the Ibero-American Innovation and Research Network, created by the OEI and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training last year.
