Authors: Manuel Hernandez Ruigomez and Mario Hernández Sánchez-Barba.

Next Sunday 11 June, at the stand of the Feria del Libro de Madrid UFV block 26 C2, from 12.30 to 14 hours, Manuel Hernández Ruigómez, will sign copies of the book Historia de Inglaterra: una aproximación española. Desde la Prehistoria a la Revolución Gloriosa, written with his father, Mario Hernández Sánchez-Barba, now deceased.

The publication of this book, the first general work on the history of England to be published by Spanish historians, is a milestone from the point of view of Spanish historiography. The United Kingdom and Spain have had intertwined, close and interconnected historical trajectories since at least the end of the 15th century. However, practically no Spanish historian had decided to delve into the nooks and crannies of British history through the centuries from a Hispanic perspective. This book is the result of many decades of teaching History of England at the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as years of reflection, research and revision of the contents.

Manuel Hernández Ruigómez, a career diplomat, current Consul General of Spain in Mexico and PhD in History, has structured, rearranged and expanded the lecture notes used by his father, Mario Hernández Sánchez-Barba, to teach the subject History of England over the 40 years he taught it.

Mario Hernández Sánchez-Barba, who died in November 2021, was Professor of Contemporary American History at the Complutense University until his retirement, Professor of History of England and History of the United States at the same university, and Professor of History at the Francisco de Vitoria University.
