The Diplomat
The government of Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves has appointed Adriana Bolaños Argueta, a former deputy foreign minister, as Costa Rica’s new ambassador to Spain.
Adriana Bolaños, a lawyer by profession, worked for five years at the Costa Rican Central Bank and another five at the Executive Secretariat of the Central American Monetary Council. In 2013 she joined the diplomatic career and since then has held various posts in Quito, San Juan de Puerto Rico and Brussels.
During the previous administration, under President Carlos Alvarado, she was deputy foreign minister and was currently director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
With her appointment, the Costa Rican embassy will once again have an ambassador, almost a year after former vice-president Ana Helena Chacón was removed from the post following Chaves’ arrival in power.
