Organised by the Agricultural Marketing Centre and the Hungarian Embassy, a tasting of Hungarian spirits featured Pálinka brandy last Thursday, with a masterclass and a B2B business development event.
Hungarian ambassador Katalin Tóth introduced the six distilleries presenting their products, Árpád, Bestillo, Gombosi, Panyolai, Szicsek and Várda-Drink, who offered their very varied and spirituous spirits to a well-attended tasting. Also present at the event was a stand of Monte Nevado’s mangalica hams, reared in the Hungarian steppe, fed on corn, wheat and pasture, and cured naturally in Spain, which according to the attendees “was delicious and had nothing to envy to Iberian ham”.
In her welcoming speech, Katalin Tóth stressed the importance of this event for the Embassy and for her country. “We want to strengthen the ties between Hungarian and Spanish companies, she said, but we also want to show some of our national drink, our Hungarian drink, pálinka. I am sure that this drink has its place in this demanding market”.
The Hungarian Food Business Programme focuses on the promotion of quality Hungarian products from the food and beverage industry. During the event, there was the opportunity to taste products on site. Finally, a masterclass on Pálinka brandy was given by sommelier Csaba Gulyás, and business contacts were made for future business relations.
