The French artist Letizia Le Fur presents the exhibition Mythologies tomorrow at 7.30 p.m. in the Gallery of the Instituto Francés (Calle del Marqués de la Ensenada, 10).
This artist lives and works in Paris. A graduate of the Tours School of Fine Arts in 1998, she initially trained in painting. She quickly became interested in the aesthetics of photography thanks to the support of Valérie Belin.
The exhibition consists of three chapters: The Origin, The Golden Age and Metamorphoses. This four-year work reveals, through a free interpretation of ancient myths, a sensitive vision of the place of humans in nature. Steeped in references to the history of art, Letizia Le Fur’s work is part of a continuity of the pictorial tradition of landscape painting, oscillating between classicism and romanticism. Thanks to a mastery of photographic techniques, she cleverly combines the surgical precision of the documentary style and meticulous colour work, as well as an expert use of reflections or overprints, invaluable to the surrealists. Mixing the intensity of light and the variety of tones, the precision of exposure and the strength of the framing, the artist moulds the image into a dreamlike vision of the real.
