Argentine Chair launch at the University of Salamanca

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic and the University of Salamanca will launch the Argentine Chair at the University of Salamanca on 19 May at 10 a.m., an event that will take place in the Aula Salinas of the Historical Building (Libreros, 19, Salamanca).

 

After opening remarks at 10 a.m., a master lecture entitled De dos orillas: Belgrano en Salamanca y Lorca en Buenos Aires, by Felipe Pigna, historian and writer, will take place one hour later, at 11 a.m. He was born in Mercedes, in the province of Buenos Aires. History teacher graduated from the Instituto Nacional del Profesorado Joaquín V González. Director of the Centro de Difusión de la Historia Argentina of the Universidad Nacional de General San Martín, columnist for radio Vorterix, director of the magazine Caras y Caretas and consultant for Latin America for the television channel History. The lecture will be moderated by Ambassador Luciana Tito, Head of Cabinet, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic.

 

This will be followed at 12 noon by another lecture entitled Escritura y desacato, by María Negroni, a lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires and PhD in Latin American Literature from Columbia University. Director of the MA in Creative Writing at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, Buenos Aires. The conference will be moderated by María Ángeles Pérez López, poet and professor of Latin American Literature at the University of Salamanca.

 

There will also be a cultural programme Cátedra Argentina with screenings on Tuesday 23 May of Maria Luisa Bemberg’s Camila and Fabian Bielinsky’s Nueve Reinas; and on Wednesday 24 May of Juan José Campanella’s El secreto de sus ojos and Lucrecia Martel’s Zama.
