Organised by the Centro Cultural Coreano, the first edition of the CCCE 2023: Wink to Korea Short Film Competition was launched at the end of April, designed to encourage interest in Korea by supporting young talents. Filmmakers are invited to present their vision of Korea and learn more about the country’s richness and diversity through the language of film. The deadline for submissions is 4 September 2023.
Short films can be submitted in any genre and be aimed at any type of audience. They must be original and make some reference to or contain some element related to any aspect of Korea. Originality, story and link to Korea will be considered. All short films must be shot in Spanish and their duration cannot exceed 20 minutes (credits included). Participation will be completely free of charge. The decision of the contest will take place in October during the Korean Film Festival in Spain.
A jury of experts composed of Roberto Cueto, professor of audiovisual communication at the Carlos III University of Madrid and member of the Selection Committee of the San Sebastian Film Festival; Pedro Medina, general director of the magazine Caimán Cuadernos de Cine, and Gloria Fernández, co-founder of Cine Asia, will be in charge of deciding the two prizes of the competition (First prize with two direct return flights Madrid-Incheon-Busan, with a guided visit to the production studio of the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA, cradle of the great directors of Korea), located in Busan, and a direct flight with the same itinerary for the second prize).
