The 118th Executive Council of UN World Tourism Organization opened yesterday in Punta Cana with the International Forum on Sustainable Tourism, organised by the Dominican Republic, and the meeting of the Online Education Committee. The Council will officially open today at 10:00 Dominican time (16:00 h. in Spain).
At the Executive Council session, which will be chaired by the Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Al Khateeb, the UNWTO Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, will report on the progress of the work to create the working group to “redesign the tourism of the future” and on the creation of the UNWTO regional and thematic offices.
The slogans and host countries for World Tourism Day 2024 and 2025, to be proposed at the General Assembly to be held in autumn in Uzbekistan, will also be discussed. Finally, the venue and date of the 119th and 120th sessions of the Executive Council will be determined.
