The Diplomat

With the aim of recognising and stimulating those students of Dominican nationality or origin who have stood out for their high grades and good behaviour, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic announces School Merit Awards, now in their 13th edition.

The aim is to promote the integration of Dominican students into Spanish educational institutions and society as a whole, while strengthening ties with their country of origin.

Any student between the ages of 10 and 20 may be a candidate, of which ten (10) will be selected, and the following aspects will be evaluated: grades, academic performance in general, spirit of improvement and civic behaviour.

Nominations and supporting documentation can be sent by ordinary or registered mail to the following addresses: Embassy of the Dominican Republic, Paseo de la Castellana, 30, 1º, derecha. 28046, Madrid. Or by email to embajada@embajadadominicana.es or ntorres@embajadadominicana.es.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 15 June 2023. The prize for the 10 selected students consists of a one-week cultural trip to the Dominican Republic, as well as a laptop computer that will be given to them during the course of the cultural programme. In addition to the 10 main prizes, the jury/the Embassy reserves the right to award a special mention to those students with different learning abilities who have shown a high motivation to excel.
