Understanding and analyzing the political panorama in Spain before the upcoming regional and local elections was the objective of the Tertulia that The Diplomat held on Monday at the Hotel Meliá Princesa in Madrid, whose speaker was the director of the International Center for Government and Political Marketing (CIGMAP), Jorge Santiago Barnes.

Under the title “Autonomous and municipal elections in Spain: a trend for the general elections?”, Santiago, who is also dean of the Faculty of Communication at the Camilo José Cela University and president of the educational institution ALEPH, broke down the prospects of the blocs, both left and right, that the results of the upcoming elections on May 28 will indicate trends for the December elections.

The meeting, organized with the collaboration of the Association of Foreign Diplomats in Spain (ADE), was attended by more than twenty foreign diplomats interested in unraveling the keys to the upcoming electoral challenges in Spain and their consequences with a view to the general elections next December.

The Diplomat’s Tertulias are held periodically. They deal with different aspects of Spanish politics, economy and society. Its objective is to offer foreign diplomats different approaches and points of view on the Spanish reality, under the condition of strict confidentiality of what is discussed in the room.
