The Republic of China (Taiwan) is once again inviting travellers from around the world to spend a night at the Presidential Office Building, the workplace of President Tsai Ing-wen, with the aim of giving tourists a first-hand experience of “Taiwan’s friendliness, freedom and diversity”.
The programme, called Spend a Night at the Presidential Office Building, is open to tourists, bloggers, photographers, youtubers, etc., from all over the world by submitting their applications until 30 June 2023. This is a pioneering initiative worldwide organised by the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC). During the launch press conference, the Secretary General of the Presidential Office, Lin Chia-lung, invited travellers from around the world to register to “fully experience the beauty of the country, have the opportunity to stay in the building and witness the friendliness, freedom and diversity of Taiwan”, as well as the hospitality and openness of the Presidential Office. Lin also emphasised that after three years of preparation and transformation during the pandemic, “Taiwan is ready to welcome tourists from all over the world to fully experience the beauty of Taiwan”. Last time the programme was conducted, 167 applications were submitted from 33 countries on five continents, generating a huge response from internet users around the world, and a new record is expected to be set this year.
