April is International Dance Day and, as a commemoration, Casa Asia (calle Mayor, 69) is organising this evening at 7pm with Shreyashee Nag, Indian choreographer, singer and dancer, a Kathak show called Anga Kavya-When bodies recite poetry.

Kathak is a classical dance form that tells stories through a body language consisting of gestures performed with the hands (mudras), feet and face. In Sanskrit, the word kathaka means storyteller and this dance represents legends of gods and men, spiritual or of love, through dance and through body movements, movements of the feet and expression of emotions and feelings with mudras and marked facial gestures.

The session will begin with a brief introduction on the history of this dance and will continue with a live performance of several pieces by the Shreyashee Nag Dance Company. Registrations to attend can be made at this link.
