Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, met this week with the Spain-Brazil Council Foundation, as part of President Lula da Silva’s first visit to Spain during his third term in office.
During the meeting, which took place this Wednesday, the minister was able to talk with the members of the Council Foundatin about the importance of Spain for Brazil, especially relevant in business relations. The meeting was attended by many of the companies that have made Spain the second most important country in terms of investment in Brazil, according to the Spanish public diplomacy institution in a press release.
With regard to foreign policy, the Council Foundation recalled, Brazil faces great challenges, including strengthening regional and international diplomacy and environmental protection. The upcoming Spanish presidency of the Council of the EU and the Brazilian presidency of Mercosur “are opportunities to advance bilateral, regional and global cooperation,” it added. “All of this was also discussed during this meeting, which Minister Mauro Vieira said was an excellent opportunity to deepen the Spain-Brazil relationship,” it concluded.
