The Romanian Ambassador to Spain, George Gabriel Bologan, has awarded the Medal of the National Order “For Merit” in the rank of “Knight”, with military insignia, to Lieutenant General Pablo Salas Moreno, Deputy Operational Director of the Guardia Civil on behalf of the President of his country, Klaus Iohannis.
The distinction was awarded to the lieutenant general as a token of appreciation for his constant and unconditional support in police cooperation, according to a note from the Romanian Embassy, which stresses that “a solid institutional cooperation has been built up between the Guardia Civil and the different police forces in Romania, an essential element in the fight against the threats we face today”.
The ceremony took place on the 18th at the headquarters of the Romanian diplomatic mission in Madrid, during which the ambassador highlighted the merits and professional achievements of Lieutenant General Pablo Salas, and affirmed that “without security there is no development or social progress, without security there is no justice”. “It is important to value the people who, with their impeccable daily work, serve the citizens and make it possible for us to live in conditions of security, in a freer, more developed and fairer Europe,” said Bologan.
For his part, Lieutenant General Salas Moreno thanked the award and said: “In the globalised world in which we live, where terrorism and organised crime have emerged as the main threats to security, international mechanisms for collaboration and information exchange are essential to prevent their implementation and development”.
