The Council of Ministers yesterday authorized the payment of a voluntary contribution from the Ministry of Equality to the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), corresponding to 2023, in the amount of 50,000 euros.
The SEGIB was created in 2003 with the aim of providing permanent institutional and technical support to the 22 countries that make up the Ibero-American community (the 19 Spanish and Portuguese-speaking Latin American countries, and those of the Iberian Peninsula Spain, Portugal and Andorra) and to organize the Ibero-American Summits of Heads of State and Government. Its headquarters are located in Madrid, specifically at Paseo de Recoletos, 8.
Last year at the same time, the Government authorized another voluntary contribution from the Ministry of Equality to SEGIB for the same amount, 50,000 euros. In any case, this organization has received much more generous voluntary contributions from the Spanish Government, such as the 1.19 million Euros authorized last December by the Council of Ministers to finance actions in the areas of youth, justice or disability, or the contribution of 2,530,000 Euros approved two months earlier to support the implementation of Ibero-American Cooperation in areas such as social cohesion, gender equality, knowledge, culture, innovation or the strengthening of the cooperation system.
