This book highlights the importance of international relations in Spain’s life. Its great evolution since 1939: a ruined and divided country at the end of a civil war, internationally isolated from 1946 to 1950, with an autarkic economy on the verge of bankruptcy in 1958, it opens up to the world from 1975, becomes a democracy, joins the European Union, NATO, participates in peace operations, is among the founding countries of the euro, and in the 2000s is among the top ten economies in the world. The reader will follow this exciting story, which will help him or her to get to know Spain better, with the challenges that it faces today.
