The National Contemporary Dance Company of Korea arrives at the Teatro Fernando de Rojas of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid (Calle Alcalá, 42) on Friday 21 April at 8 p.m. with a double programme of contemporary dance, Mechanism and Everything Falls Dramatic.
The show, organised by the Centro Cultural Coreano in collaboration with the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, takes place within the framework of Chumdanza, a festival of contemporary Korean dance organised by the same centre that brings the spectator closer to the contemporary language of Korea and helps them to understand Korean culture and society. Free admission with prior collection at the box office of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. Maximum two tickets per person.
In Mechanism, Lee Jaeyoung actively expands his artistic world through cross-genre collaboration. He is renowned for his directive ability to firmly design the structure of the work. His intuition, which penetrates the essence through the phenomenon and brings it into his own world of work, points this time to hip hop culture. This new work focuses on an individual, on systems large and small, such as space-earth-civilisation-society, and analyses the “resistive movements” that live according to such systems but sometimes occur.
Meanwhile, in Everything Falls Dramatic, Her Sungim, a choreographer who drew attention by boldly illuminating the histories and stereotypes of the marginalised, speaks dramatically and sometimes calmly about the “disappearance and fall” we face in our lives.
