Spain imported 151% more natural gas from Russia in February compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Corporation of Strategic Reserves of Petroleum Products (Cores). The total imported, 5,465 gigawatt hours (GWh), was however lower than last January, when 6,372 GWh were imported.
This figure places Russia as the third largest supplier of natural gas to Spain (17.2%), after Algeria, which was once again the largest seller, and the United States. Algeria accounted for 23.5% of Spain’s gas imports, while the United States accounted for 22.6% of the total.
Part of these imports were destined for other countries, since Spain has a powerful regasification industry.
