On Tuesday 11 April at 19.30, the Colombian documentary Cuando las aguas se juntan (When the waters come together), directed by Margarita Martinez Escallon, will be screened at the Cine Embajadores (Gta. Sta. María de la Cabeza, 5).
This documentary is the story of a group of women who suffer from war, but dare to build for peace. As rivers and seas meet, so have Colombian women in their diversity met during decades of tireless struggle. Cuando las aguas se juntan is the story from the voices of women and their organisations. Stories that highlight the challenges, losses, and at the same time the resilience, strength and courage of Colombian women who joined forces. Like the waters, they played a decisive and invaluable role in ensuring that the scars they have had to bear for more than half a century in the country were not in vain.
Women like those portrayed here have created their generation’s own vision of feminism, fighting for peace, justice, dignity, truth and non-repetition. This is a film about women activists, made to inspire women and men, to work together for Equality and human rights.
