The government allocates more than 130 million to international organisations, programmes and funds

The Council of Ministers yesterday authorised voluntary contributions from Spain to international organisations, programmes and funds and other international entities, amounting to 130,532,000 euros, of which 45,000,000 will go to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

 

The contributions will be made through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

 

The largest contribution will go to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, with a total of 45,000,000 euros.

 

The World Food Programme will receive 12,650,000 euros and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), 12,600,000 euros.

 

In addition, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs will receive 11,950,000 euros and the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme will receive 10,000,000 euros.

 

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will receive 8,850,000 euros; and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 5,250,000 euros.

 

The Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Pandemic Fund (PF) will each contribute 5,000,000 euros.

 

The Spanish government will contribute 4,450,000 euros to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA); and 3,650,000 euros to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

 

Finally, smaller amounts will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which will receive 500,000 euros; the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), with 332,000 euros; and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), with 300,000 euros.
