Margarita Nelken and Gerda Taro, two Jewish women among the Sinsombrero

March 14, 2023
in Culture & Art, Leisure

Tomorrow, Wednesday 15 March at 6 p.m., Centro Sefarad-Israel presents the journalist and writer Inmaculada de la Fuente, who will talk about some of the most outstanding Jewish women of the Sinsombrero group, a group of women belonging to the Generation of ’27. The conversation can be followed exclusively on Centro Sefarad-Israel’s YouTube channel, at this link.

Gerda Taro and Margarita Nelken are two of the women who, although they have not received the recognition they deserve, are part of the history of 20th century communication and literature. Both stood out for their great courage, their enormous determination and their efforts in entering a world that had been dominated by men until then.

The writer and journalist Inmaculada de la Fuente talks about many of them in her latest book Inspiración y talento. Dieciséis mujeres del siglo XX (Inspiration and talent. Sixteen women of the 20th century). In this conversation with her, we will analyse the work carried out by both women who lived together with the Sinsombrero group and we will focus on their Jewish roots.
