The Ambassador of Ecuador, Andrés Vallejo, paid a visit to Seville, during which he invited Andalusian businessmen to invest in his country and to hire Ecuadorian workers.

During his visit to Seville, Andrés Vallejo met with the Minister of the Presidency of the Andalusian Regional Government, Antonio Sanz Cabello, and took part in an investment promotion day with businessmen from the city’s Chamber of Commerce.

At the meeting, he also presented the investment portfolio that Ecuador is promoting through the law on incentives for public-private partnerships, which offers tax benefits for investors. Among them, he cited income tax exemptions and exemptions on the entry of machinery and raw materials. He cited the sectors of renewable energy, road network, railway network, agribusiness, telecommunications, among others.

In addition, he referred to the project of Collective Management of Hiring in Origin (GECCO) led by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration of the Government of Spain, to consider the hiring of Ecuadorian labour, of which he highlighted its high responsibility and efficiency, according to the note, so he encouraged employers to proceed to hire workers from Ecuador.

At the meeting with the Andalusian regional government minister, Vallejo discussed issues related to the more than 20 cooperation actions that the Junta has in Ecuador and the possibility of expanding them through the coordination of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID).

The Ambassador referred to the fruitful cooperation of the Junta de Andalucía in the process of recovery of the historic centre of Quito and in cultural promotion activities.

He also stressed that the country’s areas of special interest are: the fight against malnutrition, the protection of hydrographic basins, the strengthening of the rural health system, training and support for indigenous and Afro-descendant community enterprises, among others.

At the meeting, it was agreed to form a team to coordinate and present specific proposals.

During the visit, the ambassador was accompanied by the minister Verónica Peña, the consul in Málaga, Diana Veloz, and the honorary consul in Seville, Héctor Salgado.
