The Ministry of the Interior has activated the special security plan to guarantee the celebration of the international meetings and activities that will take place throughout the country during the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which corresponds to Spain in the second half of 2023.
As reported yesterday by the Ministry, the guidelines of this Special Security Plan for the Spanish Presidency of the European Union are included in the Instruction 2/2023 issued by the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Perez, which sets the mechanisms for coordinating the actions of the National Police and the Civil Guard and their collaboration with other regional or local police forces, with the Armed Forces and other institutions, in order to ensure the safe and peaceful celebration of the activities to be held during the next six months.
The Special Alert Phase will begin on June 20 and will be maintained throughout the Spanish Presidency of the EU, so that the operational security, protection and response capabilities are available at their maximum level of activation to immediately provide the security and protection, both general and special, necessary for the start and development of all events related to the European Semester. In addition, under the direction of the Secretary of State for Security, this Special Security Plan will integrate the specific security plans corresponding to each of the events planned for the semester.
