As part of the Festival Internacional de Arte Sacro de la Comunidad de Madrid (FIAS), the Instituto Francés of Madrid presents Walid Ben Selim in concert on Monday 27 March at 8 p.m., a multifaceted artist who proposes a modern odyssey in Arabic poetry. Walid Ben Selim will also be playing at the Centro Cultural Paco Rabal on Sunday 26 March at 7 p.m.
Walid Ben Selim is a versatile artist, with a style that plays with the limits of genres: poetry, music, theatre, etc. In his projects such as N3rdistan, The Dice Player and Les Espaces Poétiques, he creates a universe inspired by the Arabic poetry of authors such as Abu Al Alaa Al Maari and El Hallaj, mixing it with electronic sounds. Today, he develops his musical laboratory in the Eastern Pyrenees, where he invites other artists, actors and musicians to share his “poetic spaces” and invent sensitive music.
Accompanied by Marie Marguerite Cano and Agathe Di Piro, Walid Ben Selim presents Nascentia, an encounter between the Arabic language and instruments, in order to build links between different eras and cultures. Harp and piano accompanied by voice invite us on a mystical journey beyond words. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
