The Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the Secretary of State for Trade through ICEX Spain Export and Investment and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) will organize tomorrow in Madrid the 28th Meeting of the Spanish-Japanese Bilateral Business Committee.
The meeting has been organized on the occasion of the visit to Spain of an important business delegation from Japan and will take place at 11:30 am at the headquarters of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. Participants in the event include the State Secretary for Trade, Xiana Méndez; the President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Kazushige Nobutani, and the co-presidents of the Bilateral Business Committee, the Chairman of Acciona, José Manuel Entrecanales, and the Honorary President of Mitsubishi Corporation, Mikio Sasaki.
The program will consist of several morning and afternoon sessions and will include a Spain-Japan Infrastructure Forum. “We consider this an excellent opportunity to jointly address all areas and sectors of interest in bilateral business cooperation between the two countries,” said the Chamber of Commerce.
After the inauguration of the meeting (which will be given by José Luis Bonet, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and José Manuel Entrecanales and Mikio Sasaki), Xiana Méndez and Kazushige Nobutani (JETRO) will analyze the economic and business relations between Japan and Spain “in the new international context”.
This will be followed by three sessions on renewable energies, health and digitalization, connectivity and new technologies, before moving on to the Spain-Japan Infrastructure Forum, which will analyze cooperation between the two countries in this sector and its “challenges and opportunities”, with the participation of the Secretary General of Infrastructures of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Francisco Javier Flores García. The closing of the meeting will take place at five o’clock in the afternoon with interventions, once again, by José Manuel Entrecanales and Mikio Sasaki.
On the other hand, and on the occasion of the business meeting, the King will receive Mikio Sasaki in audience tomorrow. The Honorary President of Mitsubishi Corporation will be accompanied by José Manuel Entrecanales at the Zarzuela Palace.
The Spanish-Japanese Bilateral Business Committee was inaugurated in 2013, coinciding with the Spain-Japan Dual Year, in an event presided over by the then Prince of Asturias and current King Felipe VI and by the then Crown Prince and current Emperor of Japan, Naruhito. Mikio Sasaki and José Manuel Entrecanales have co-chaired this Committee since its inception and in 2018 celebrated the 400th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mitsubishi Corporation, the Japanese general trading group (sogo shosha), and Acciona, a leading Spanish renewable energy, infrastructure and water company, have a strategic alliance to jointly develop and operate renewable energy projects and share innovation and training initiatives aimed at leading the development of sustainable solutions worldwide.
