Until 23 April, Casa Árabe is organising a full programme of activities at its headquarters in Madrid and Cordoba to celebrate this month of Ramadan, which is so important in the Muslim calendar.
For yet another year, Casa Árabe wishes to celebrate this important month in the Muslim calendar, a special date for more than 2,000,000 Spanish Muslims. A celebration that begins with the sighting of the first quarter crescent of the moon (the ninth month of the Islamic calendar) and which this year will take place between Wednesday 22 March and Friday 21 April.
The celebration has obvious religious roots, originating in 610 AD when, according to Islamic tradition, the archangel Gabriel appeared to the Prophet Muhammad and revealed to him the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam. The revelation, Laylat al-Qadar (Night of Destiny), is said to have occurred during Ramadan.
Throughout the different editions held in Madrid and in Cordoba, Casa Árabe’s Ramadan programme has established itself as a unique meeting to raise awareness of the culture of the Muslim world, so present in our common history, where some can celebrate their most important festival and others can share and learn from the reality of their closest neighbours.
Casa Árabe invites you to discover the full programme of activities at this link, and to congratulate all Muslims you meet, as they do, on this month of festivities and celebrations: “Ramadan Mubarak”.
