The Israeli government yesterday approved sending two aid delegations to the disaster area in Turkey, following a meeting attended by representatives of the foreign, defence and health ministries. One of the teams left Tel Aviv last night and the second, larger team, which will include extensive humanitarian aid, is expected to arrive later this morning.

During the discussion, Israel’s ambassador to Turkey, Irit Lilian, and other security officials provided a comprehensive overview of the current situation in the area, reports the Israeli Embassy in Spain.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen reported yesterday that he spoke in the last few hours with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, to whom he expressed his deep sorrow and assured that “today, Israel stands with Turkey in its difficult moment”.
