The Croatian Ambassador, Nives Malenica, received the Commemorative Medal for the 1300th Anniversary of the Battle of Covadonga from the President of the Royal Corps of the Nobility of Asturias, Francisco de Borbón, Duke of Seville, at a ceremony held at the Croatian Embassy in Spain on 10 February.

The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Croatian Embassy, where the Corps’ Institutional Relations Counsellor, Alfredo Leonard, said that with this distinction the Nobility of Asturias wished to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador, for her part, pointed out that this distinction symbolises the strong ties of friendship between the Spanish and Croatian nations.

Among those present, as well as a large representation of the Asturian corporation, were the ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Luxembourg and the counsellor of the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See, Monsignor Renato Kučić.
