From 22 to 26 February, the Taiwanese Art Week in Madrid will be presented at the Art Madrid and Hybrid Art Fair bringing to the capital the personal work of four Taiwanese artists of very different styles: Chang Teng-Yuan (Secret Base, in the photo), Hsieh Jung-Wei, Wu Wei-Ting and Jazz Szu-Ying Chen.
This artistic representation, organised by the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan and the Cultural Economic Office of Taipei in Spain, is varied in styles and themes and continues Taiwan’s commitment to showcasing its most current creations in Spain, in two of the key events for the latest emerging art.
At Art Madrid, the artist Chang Teng-Yuan presents a new series of works under the title “EARTH Beta”. Through a virtual world of curious parrot-like characters, he reflects the situation after the covid-19 epidemic.
Hsieh Jung-Wei compares himself to a paper farmer, and conceives of drawing paper as a field of work. He is an artist who creates his works with pen strokes, writes continuously, constructs a complete image and evokes the power of time that cannot be ignored.
Wu Wei-Ting uses smell as a design idea, and his work is like a collection of smells between Taiwan and Spain. He discovered that Spain is one of the places of origin of citrus fruits, and in his works he tries to express the smell of the sea and citrus fruits.
Jazz Szu-Ying Chen, who is participating in Hybrid Art for the first time, has been constantly exhibiting her work both in Taiwan and in the UK, where she has lived for 10 years. Some of her most recent collaborative projects are with Houndstoooth, the Fabric Club record label in London, with a critically acclaimed compilation. His work seeks to integrate the aesthetics of medieval art and medical anatomical structure to shape a unique visual art language that combines art and music to express thoughts.
