On 19 February 2023, it will be 147 years since the birth of the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși and 2023 will mark 30 years since the accession of Romania to the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), as well as to Timișoara: the European Capital of Culture.
On the occasion of these key dates in Romanian culture and in the agenda of cultural diplomacy, the Instituto Cultural Rumano in Madrid and the Romanian Embassy, in collaboration with the Instituto Francés in Madrid and with the support of the Association Timișoara – European Capital of Culture, are organising a special event, the conference Brancusi: Romanian Sources and Universal Perspectives, given by Doïna Lemny, PhD in Art History, Honorary Curator of the National Museum of Modern Art, Centre Georges Pompidou, and Ovidiu Șandor, PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (IPO) from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm (Sweden) and a Master in Information Science from the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, (Romania). The two speakers will reveal for the first time in front of the public the concept of one of the most extensive exhibitions dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși in the last 50 years in Romania, which will be inaugurated in the framework of the cultural programme Timișoara 2023-European Capital of Culture, at the National Museum of Art of Timișoara.
