‘Salvador de Madariaga and mundialism pioneering networks (1927-1950)’

The Escuela Diplomática (Paseo de Juan XXIII, 5) presents the book-Salvador de Madariaga and the pioneering networks of mundialism (1927-1950) – Salvador de Madariaga y las redes pioneras del mundialismo (1927-1950)-, by José Ramón Rodríguez Lago, on Tuesday 7 February at 18:30.

 

Salvador de Madariaga y Rojo (1886-1978) was a Spanish diplomat and writer, Minister of Public Instruction and Fine Arts and Minister of Justice of the Second Republic in 1934. A liberal and pro-European thinker, he went into exile in the United Kingdom after the outbreak of the Civil War. During the Cold War he was an active militant against Soviet communism, as well as an opponent of Franco’s dictatorship; he only returned to Spain after Franco’s death. A full member of the Royal Spanish Academy and the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, as a writer he cultivated various genres: historical and political essays, literary criticism, novels, biography and poetry.

 

Ramiro Domínguez Hernanz, Sílex ediciones; Elena Sánchez de Madariaga, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos; Carlos Sanz Díaz, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and José Ramón Rodríguez Lago, Universidad de Vigo will speak at the presentation.
