Fundación Carlos de Amberes discloses the new Belgian passport
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

From 31 January to 5 February, the Fundación Carlos de Amberes (Calle Claudio Coello, 99) is presenting the new Belgian passport in an exhibition organised by the Belgian Embassy. The new passport changes its image and incorporates world-famous Belgian comic strip characters on its various pages.

In each drawing of the passport there are two visual elements: a print in traditional ink, as it will be seen in the passport; and a simulation of a print in fluorescent ink, invisible, which can only be seen revealed under ultraviolet light like the one used in international border controls. The superimposition of the two inks at the very heart of the design is one of the many security features developed to protect the passport and thus the identity of the bearer.

The Belgian passport is issued by the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, and was produced by the Zetes Thales consortium in close cooperation with the “Office de la Répression des Faux de la Police fédérale belge” (Central Office for the Repression of Fraud of the Belgian Federal Police) and the publishing houses, authors or holders of the rights of the characters used.
