Casa Asia and the Confucius Institute collaborate with various Chinese entities in Spain in the organisation of the events that will take place until the 4th of February to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rabbit, both in Madrid and Barcelona, where they also have the support of their respective city councils.
The traditional Lunar New Year, organised consecutively since 2014, has become one of the main cultural and media events in both cities, with great recognition in both Spain and China.
The central event was held on 21 January with large parades in Barcelona and Madrid and different cultural shows for all audiences. In the coming days, workshops, storytelling, gastronomic and cultural fairs will be held.
With the aim of adapting to the public and complementing each other, both cities have opted for different formats. In Barcelona, specifically in Paseo Lluís Companys and Sant Joan (Arc de Triomf area), there will be parallel cultural and gastronomic activities. Madrid will have a storyteller and a martial arts workshop.
