Next Friday at 1 p.m., the exhibition Gogi visits Spain will open at the Instituto Quevedo de las Artes del Humor (calle Nueva 4, Alcalá de Henares, Madrid), on the work of the renowned Pakistani caricaturist, Nigar Nazar (in the photo).
This artist and illustrator is the first woman cartoonist in the Islamic world and the work to be exhibited, in original, is a compilation of her illustrations over more than fifty years. The character of Gogi is an everyday heroine, who has spent years advocating for girls’ education and women’s rights, among many other things, in the Pakistani media. The exhibition is the result of an academic cooperation agreement between the University of Alcalá and the Embassy of Pakistan.
