On Thursday 19 January at 7 p.m., Casa Árabe, the Moroccan Embassy and the Malakat Association are organising an event entitled Alzan la voz (Speak Out), in which different voices belonging to the second generation of descendants of immigrant families in Spain will take part. Admission is free until full capacity is reached. The event will be held in Spanish.
The participants will talk about their contributions and reflections in order to contribute to raising awareness of an intercultural, fair and egalitarian society.
The day will begin with addresses by the Ambassador of Morocco, Karima Benyaich, and the Director General of Casa Árabe, Irene Lozano. This will be followed by a round table discussion with the participation of Mohamed El Ben, influencer and founder of Bushido Talent; Hajar Brown, actress; Farid El Ouazizi, entrepreneur and founder of the Amazingh clothing portal and Level hair salon; and Hanaa el Assla, manager and account manager at Chaabi Bank Madrid. The event will be moderated by Anissa Filali, social mediator and early childhood education teacher.
Afterwards, the Malakat Room for intergenerational dialogue will be presented, a space for dialogue and interaction between the first and second generations of migrants in Spain, conceived as a pioneering and innovative experience to create a new culture of communication and promote stable values that help the second generations to develop with positive references.
Finally, there will be a dramatised reading of the text Inspiración (Inspiration), created from theatre workshops with unaccompanied minors. To round off the evening, a tribute will be paid to Achraf Hakimi, a Spanish-Moroccan footballer belonging to the second generation, for his brilliant work in the 2022 World Cup, and the evening will end with a musical piece. The event can be followed live on Casa Árabe’s YouTube channel.
