The Caja de las Letras at the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid (Alcalá, 49) opens on Wednesday 11 January at 10 a.m. to receive the legacy “in memoriam” of the Argentinean writer Ernesto Sábato.
In 1984, the Argentinian writer won the Miguel de Cervantes Prize, the highest award in Spanish literature, and has other distinctions to his name, such as the Gabriela Mistral Award, granted by the Organisation of American States (OAS).
The award ceremony will be presided over by Luis García Montero, director of the Instituto Cervantes, and will be attended by Mario Sábato, writer and filmmaker; Esteban Avilés, president of the Córdoba Tourism Agency of the province of Córdoba (Argentina); Sebastián Boldrini, secretary of Tourism of the Municipality of Villa Carlos Paz (Argentina), and Pedro Jorge Solans, writer and journalist.
Admission is restricted to the Caja de las Letras. The event will be broadcast via streaming on the Instituto Cervantes’ live channel and YouTube channel, and in person from the auditorium of the Instituto Cervantes with free admission.
