Spain has increased its collaboration with Egypt in the transport sector and specifically in the railway sector, according to a meeting between the Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, and the Spanish ambassador in Cairo, Álvaro Iranzo.

In addition, the two countries reached an agreement for the development of signalling systems on the 208 km Assiut-Nagaa Hammadi line, which is being carried out by the Spanish company Thales.
This is in addition to the rehabilitation of 23 trains for the first metro line, and a contract for the rehabilitation of 35 trains and the maintenance of 39 trains for the second metro line.
The Egyptian Ministry of Transport also hopes to cooperate with Spanish companies in the location of railway industries, such as the creation of a factory for the manufacture of railway and metro carriages and railway tractors.
Likewise, an agreement has been reached with the Talgo company to locate railway industries in Egypt.
After his meeting with the Spanish ambassador, Minister Kamel Al-Wazir stressed the depth of the joint relations between the two friendly countries and the importance of the joint projects being carried out, especially in the field of rail and metro, and expressed his desire to increase this collaboration to reach all areas of transport.
