Provocative Leo Bassi returns to Teatro del Barrio with ‘Yo, Mussolini’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On 28 and 29 December, the comedian Leo Bassi returns to the Teatro del Barrio (calle Zurita, 20) with a revised version of his Yo, Mussolini, a provocative and funny play designed to generate optimism and give the audience the desire to resist, with intelligence, in the face of intolerance.

Mixing jokes and provocation with a profound reflection on political manipulation, Bassi resurrects the Duce at a time when fascism seems to be doing the same throughout Europe. In this way, Bassi once again takes a stand against the extreme right with a provocative and amusing show born out of the worldwide rise of the old authoritarian and totalitarian ideology. A title that premiered last season and defends a life of greater solidarity and humanism, and reminds us that fascism grows because of the fear it generates, and the best antidote to this fear is a sense of humour.

Renowned worldwide for his extravagant theatrical performances and his countless provocative actions, Leo Bassi descends from an ancient lineage of eccentric comedians and circus clowns from Italy, France, England, Austria and Poland. From it he has inherited not only amazing skills, but also this libertarian, irreverent and cosmopolitan spirit, which was undoubtedly the essence of the 19th century circus. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
