On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s birth, the Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid and the Quintanar Palace in Segovia (San Agustin Street, s/n) present until March 5, 2023 at the palace headquarters the project Pasolini. Hypothesis of figuration, an Italian-Spanish exhibition in which artists from the two countries ideally dialogue with each other around the profound and enigmatic figure of Pier Paolo Pasolini.
The exhibition is curated by Marco Delogu, Andrea Cortellessa and Silvia De Laude and promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, under the auspices of the Italian Embassy.
Over the years, the Italian Institute of Culture of Madrid has dedicated many initiatives to the figure of the great intellectual. With this exhibition, Pasolini’s words, his work and his imaginary – 100 years after his birth and 47 years after his death – are still able to impress and inspire intellectuals, artists and ordinary people.
With this interpretative key, the curators of the exhibition have elaborated a journey built around Pasolini’s themes, such as locations, self-representations, eternal fascism, intermediate lands and peripheries, where the traces of the great intellectual are glimpsed and deciphered through the “lenses” of nine extraordinary contemporary artists: Jordi Barreras, Jacopo Benassi, Marco Delogu, Jorge Fuembuena, Alberto Garcia-Alix, Pino Musi, Sabrina Ragucci and Giovanna Silva.
