On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved a royal decree granting a direct subsidy of 7.5 million euros to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the preparation and development of the bid by Spain, Portugal and Ukraine to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
This new investment, financed from the expenditure budget of the Consejo Superior de Deportes for the 2022 financial year, is intended to promote the Spanish bid through activities such as the holding of meetings and events in different parts of Spain and abroad, the establishment of a technical office for the coordination of events, the dissemination of the initiatives through the media, the development of the necessary infrastructure for training and technical centers for the national and regional teams and technological support.
“The benefits of the organization of the World Cup have an impact on several areas, being especially significant its impact on the tourism sector in different parts of the country, turning the event into a lever for the projection of the country brand and, in turn, of regional brands,” said the Government.
“Spain, together with Portugal and Ukraine, thus faces in the coming years one of the most important challenges in the international sports context, which requires the sum of efforts and potential of their respective governments and soccer federations to present a joint bid,” it added.
