Next Sunday 18 December at 8 p.m., the theatre El Umbral de la Primavera (Calle Primavera, 11, Lavapiés) offers the play written by Matei Vi Oriigniec and directed by Mario Mocanu, Buscamos payaso viejo (We are looking for an old clown).
A job offer at the door of a strange office: We are looking for an old clown. An ideal job for Niccolò, Filipo and Pepino, who unexpectedly meet again at the door of this audition, thirty years after having been colleagues at Circo Fernando. Without ever losing their humour, and while waiting for the desired audition, the three friends, and candidates, will not stop warming up by proposing jokes, games and tricks; they will relive together their glorious shared past, and will give themselves up to a thousand different and contradictory emotions: hunger, fraternity, rivalry, compassion, comparison, solidarity, cruelty, forgiveness, frustration, joy… and the continuous struggle to show which is the best clown in the end. Until one of them wins with his best trick…
The play is produced by the company Grafos Teatro, a theatrical project born from the impulse and the need to unite different specialities linked to the world of art and theatre, in order to answer big questions and provocations. Its aim is to highlight unknown texts, old and new, through the essence of the dramatic text and the search for a new language and the creation of new poetic worlds. Grafos Teatro aims to play, open debates and create dialogues through plays, performance, installations and literary texts. It is a project that was initially born with this first theatrical project, which brings together several former students of the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático, of various specialties but that aims to grow with each new idea, new challenges and each new meeting.
