José Bogas Gálvez, CEO of Endesa, and Luigi Ferraris, CEO of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group, received the Tiepolo 2022 Awards on Monday at a ceremony held at the Italian Embassy in Madrid.
Awarded by CEOE and the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Spain (CCIS), the Tiepolo Awards recognise annually, since 1996, the careers of successful Spanish and Italian entrepreneurs and their important contribution to the strengthening of economic and commercial relations between Spain and Italy.
The award ceremony, now in its 25th edition, was attended by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto; the Italian Ambassador, Riccardo Guariglia; the President of Assocamerestero, Mario Pozza, and the Presidents of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, and CCIS, Marco Pizzi. Numerous institutional, economic and business representatives from both countries were also present.
In presenting the award, Ambassador Guariglia stressed that “this year, two outstanding personalities were honoured who, with the investments they have stimulated and the strategies they have promoted in crucial sectors for contemporary society such as energy and mobility, have demonstrated over the years a great vision of the future also in their attention to the issues of sustainability, decarbonisation and the ‘green economy’, representing real, important and authentic successes from which both countries – Italy and Spain – have benefited, individually and also in the bilateral relationship”.
José Bogas expressed his gratitude for the “privilege” of receiving the Tiepolo Prize and stressed that he maintains “deep professional and personal ties” with Italy, which has allowed him to make “good Italian friends over the last two decades”.
For his part, Luigi Ferraris wanted to share the award with the entire FS Group team and with the more than 82,000 employees working in Italy and in the foreign subsidiaries, and in particular with those working in Spain, recalling that “in these very weeks they are busy with the debut of our Frecciarossa 1000 on the Spanish high-speed tracks”.
