The Government of Spain yesterday condemned “in the strongest terms” the execution of Mohesen Sheikari, arrested after his participation in the ongoing protests in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini.
“Spain calls on the Iranian authorities to put an end to the executions and death sentences handed down in the context of the current protests and reiterates its position against this punishment, in all countries of the world and in all circumstances,” the government said in a statement.
The Government of Spain “reiterates its call for the respect of the fundamental rights of the Iranian population, including the freedoms of expression and peaceful demonstration, and urges the Iranian authorities to comply with international human rights obligations,” it concluded.
