The ice rinks could not be missing from the extensive programme that Madrid City Council has designed for the Christmas festivities, which have already become a tradition and one of the most popular activities.
Matadero Madrid and the Galería de Cristal del Palacio de Cibeles, spaces of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport, are once again the epicentres of the Christmas in Madrid programme, with their ice rinks as the meeting place par excellence. They will open to the public on 8 and 16 December, respectively. In addition to these, there will also be ice rinks in seven districts of the capital.
The Matadero Madrid ice rink, one of the largest in Spain, with a surface area of 600 m2, is an impressive open-air space perfect for experts and beginners of all ages, and will be open until 8 January. The large ice skating rink that has been installed in the Palacio de Cibeles for the festive season since 2012 will be open from 16 December to 8 January and will once again transform the Galería de Cristal into a magical space in the heart of the city.
Seven districts of the city (Barajas, Carabanchel, Centro, Moncloa-Aravaca, Puente de Vallecas, Villa de Vallecas and Salamanca) will also install ice rinks in December so that all residents can enjoy this activity.
