The Council of Ministers authorized yesterday voluntary contributions to more than eighty international organizations, programs and funds and other entities of an international nature dedicated to the defense and promotion of human rights, the strengthening of international peace and security and the fight against international terrorism and crime, for a total amount of 33,674,652 euros.
The largest contribution of 4,125,000 euros goes to the World Health Organization (WHO), specifically to support the WHO Budget and the C-TAP (TECHNOLOGY ACCESS POOL) Program, an initiative to facilitate access to vaccines, tests, treatments and other health technologies to combat COVID-19.
It is followed by 3,665,000 euros for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 2,660,000 euros for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 2,450,000 euros for the WHO Emergencies Program and 2 million euros for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), for the COVID and Healthcare in Danger projects.
Spain will also contribute 1,750,000 euros to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), 1,410,698 euros to the Technical Cooperation Fund of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), 1. 1,300,000 euros to the United Nations Volunteers Program (UNDP), 1,150,000 euros to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA/UNFPA), 1,015,000 euros to the World Food Program (WFP) for operations in the Sahel (Niger and Mali).
1 million will go to UN Women, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA), the UN Alliance of Civilizations Trust Fund and UNHCR’s Comprehensive Response Framework for Protection and Solutions (CRPS) activities.
The list includes contributions of half a million euros to ICRC, Three Cultures Foundation and the WHO Malaria Program and 468,340 euros to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for projects in the Western Mediterranean and West Africa. The remaining contributions, ranging from 15,000 to 400,000 euros, come from nearly seventy international organizations, programs and funds.
