King Felipe VI held yesterday a private meeting with King Charles III of England, taking advantage of his trip to London to participate in an event on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom, according to Zarzuela Palace sources.
The meeting took place at Clarence House, the official residence of the new British monarch and, predictably, Don Felipe invited him and his wife, Camilla, to make a state visit to Spain or to travel to our country on any occasion, as the King himself said during his speech before the Chamber of Commerce.
This is the second occasion in which both kings have seen each other since Charles III succeeded his mother Elizabeth II to the throne upon her death last September 8.
Don Felipe traveled to London with Doña Letizia, as well as the emeritus King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía, to attend the funeral of the former queen of England for seven decades. The King attended the reception organized on the eve of the funeral at Buckingham Palace as well as the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and the more private ceremony at Windsor Castle, where the remains of Elizabeth II rest.
